Getting started

Prerequisites

• Bun  v1.x
• A local PostgreSQL instance
• An OPENROUTER_API_KEY for chat models
• Clerk keys for auth (required to sign in and chat)

Install

Clone the repository and install dependencies from the repo root:

git clone https://github.com/gopallchoudhary/coolcode
cd coolcode
bun install

bun install also runs prisma generate as a postinstall step of @coolcode/database. Anything importing @coolcode/database will not compile without it.

Set up the database

Create a single .env file at the repository root (Bun auto-loads it; the Prisma CLI loads it explicitly through prisma.config.ts) and point DATABASE_URL at your Postgres instance.

No migrations are tracked. Push the schema directly:

cd packages/database
bunx prisma db push

Run

Start the API server (it listens on port 3000):

bun run dev:server

In a second terminal, start the TUI:

bun run dev:cli

The CLI talks to http://localhost:3000 by default; override it with API_URL.
